A heart-to-heart with my readers about getting to know me.
Welcome to Ash Applied, my own space to share my life and interests with you all! Let me tell you, I wasn't always this open to share who I was with just anyone. I think that's because I didn't know who I was, or who I wanted to be. Now, I've discovered myself and where I want to go in the world, I feel comfortable with letting people know who I am.
"When I was younger, I would gag at the site of a pink poofy dress or a tailored skirt."
How I found my voice through my style and incorporated it into everyday life.
When I was younger, I would gag at the site of a pink poofy dress or a tailored skirt. I would love to dress down in my t-shirts and blue jeans, never thinking twice about how I looked to anyone. Yet, these times of my life were the hardest. These were the times where I struggled with my own image and value of self. It wasn't until I broke away from what I was used to that I found out who I was and who I wanted to be. My walk got "tighter", my head got higher, and my style seemed to have a direction of its own. My boldness started with my appearance, I started to develop a style that I fell in love with and didn't care if anyone felt the same. I have my younger self to thank for that nonchalant feeling toward's people's opinions. Without it, I would be following every new wave that influenced the public; and style, my friend, isn't something that comes in waves, it's what creates them.
"I feel like the way I present myself speaks volumes, people can know I mean business without me even opening my mouth and I think that's powerful."
How my style influences the choices I make in life today
As I manuver my way throughout the roads ahead of everyday, I find ways to make myself stand out amongst the crowd. That's what style does, it stands out and makes a name for itself. I was born to be something special in this world, something that no one has ever experienced based on what I exhibit on the inside and outside. I feel like the way I present myself speaks volumes, people can know I mean business without me even opening my mouth and I think that's powerful. Finding what I liked and didn't like wasn't anything easy, but I think it brought me closer to who I am today. I made it a priority to know myself and show her in one of the best ways I knew how. Now, I have awakened a style, passion, and voice that can never be silenced; no matter how hard anyone tries.
